Bonjour à tous,
Pour ce qui aime voyager:
Basic Gelatin Emulsion Making
>From January 17, 2011 through January 19, 2011 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm at
George Eastman House
Former Eastman Kodak emulsion engineer Ron Mowry will guide participants
through the procedures of making and hand-coating a simple gelatin
photographic emulsion. No prior photo-chemical experience is necessary to
make this Azo-type silver-chloride emulsion.
The class will teach participants how to hand-coat emulsion onto plain and
coated papers and how to expose and develop. Participants will receive tips
on how to vary the contrast of this easy-to-make emulsion. This is a great
entry-level workshop for the curious and also those who would like to build
on the basics of gelatin photographic technology at the twilight of its
manufacture.
Process historian Mark Osterman will discuss the evolution of emulsions and
show rare examples of silver gelatin photographs by the masters of
photography from the Eastman House archives. Included with this workshop are
a complete set of step-by-step instructions and other readings on the topic
of gelatin emulsion making.
Limited to 8 participants.
Tuition: $550 members, $575 non-members, plus $90 materials fee.
