HI-LUX FOCUSING SCREENS FOR ROLLEI 6000 SERIES, SL66 SERIES, SLX:

HI-LUX Brilliant Matte

Entire screen is a brilliant, contrasty, high clarity matte field

HI-LUX Micro/Split RF

A large, very sensitive split image rangefinder (6mm diameter) surrounded by a large, very sensitive microprism doughnut (10.5 mm diameter) which is surrounded by a brilliant, contrasty, matte field

HI-LUX Microprism

A large, very sensitive microprism spot (10.5 mm diameter) surrounded by a brilliant, contrasty, matte field

(Above screens available with no lines, vertical/horizontal crop lines, or grid lines)

All of these screens are very brilliant and allow focus under dim light conditions even with slower lenses. If you have wide angle lenses, we recommend the micro/split rf or microprism for the best results.

There is also an economy screen available for these cameras (This is still a very nice screen in these cameras):

HI-LUX Micro/Split RF (Type II) -

A split image rangefinder (4 mm diameter) surrounded by a microprism doughnut (7 mm dia.) which is surrounded by a bright matte field

(This screen also available with no lines, vertical/horizontal crop lines, or grid lines)

HI-LUX FOCUSING SCREENS FOR ROLLEIFLEX GX AND FX:
HI-LUX Brilliant Matte

HI-LUX SCREENS FOR ROLLEIFLEX AND ROLLEICORD TLR'S:

Rollei TLRs with removable viewing hoods (except Rolleiflex GX and FX):

The following screens are available for the Rollei TLR models with removable viewing hoods ( Rolleiflex E2, E3, F, F12/24, T, Rolleicord Vb, Tele Rolleiflex, Rollei Wide, and Rolleimagic I & II). The screens are user interchangeable and do not require any tools or adjustment (presuming the camera is currently focusing ok with the original factory screen):

HI-LUX Brilliant Matte

The entire screen is a brilliant, contrasty, matte field

HI-LUX Micro/Split RF

A split image rangefinder (4mm diameter) surrounded by a microprism collar (7mm diameter) surrounded by a bright matte field

(Above screens available with grid lines, vertical/horizontal crop lines, or no lines)

ROLLEI TLRS WITH NON-REMOVABLE VIEWING HOODS:

The above HI-LUX screens are also available at the same price for all the earlier Rolleiflex and Rolleicord TLR models that have non-interchangeable viewing hoods. When ordered for these cameras, the screens are supplied with instructions and materials so they may be installed in your older Rolleilex or Rolleicord TLR either by you or by an experienced technician. Be sure to specify that the screen is for a Rollei TLR with a non-removable viewing hood since these screens are a different size compared to the interchangeable screens.

MAXWELL HI-LUX FOCUSING SCREENS

HI-LUX REPLACEMENT FOCUSING SCREENS AND HI-LUX ENHANCEMENTS:

We have developed a process for focusing screens that may change the way that you view the world through your camera. We are able to produce focusing screens that have enhanced brilliance and yet retain the contrast, detail and ability to focus of the original screen. It is our belief that this is a more rational approach to the problems of producing more brilliant focusing screens.

With many modern cameras we can take the camera manufacturers' screen and enhance it with our HI-LUX process to achieve a more brilliant focusing image. This is also the most cost effective for many photographers since you can send us the screen from your camera (if your screen is not in good condition or you prefer a screen with different features, a new screen may be obtained and enhanced instead). The HI-LUX process affects the matte areas of the screen only. Any split image rangefinders, microprism areas, lines, grids, or other markings will be unchanged and will appear exactly as before.

This process achieves it's brilliance by increasing the transmission of light through the screen and reducing side scatter. This extra light is then redirected by the field lens towards the eye. Since no extra light is scattered off angle relative to the eye, behind the screen light meters experience little or no change in exposure reading (most behind the screen light meter receptors are off angle relative to the eye). Light meters forward of the screen are not affected. Auto focus is not affected.

The process is permanent and will not change with time. The process doesn't change the screen dimensionally in any way. The screen will be exactly the same thickness as before the process. The amount of increase in brilliance may vary from one camera to another because some cameras' screens are more efficient to begin with. Possible increases in brilliance are 3 to 8 times the original. Some may be increased a little less and others a little more. The effect is most noticeable with slower lenses and dim light. Our standard HI-LUX BRILLIANT is recommended for all general photography. (We also have a special HI-LUX ULTRA BRILLIANT which is recommended for use with very slow viewing apertures and dim light as a dedicated screen. Call concerning this screen.)

For wide angle to moderate telephoto we recommend a screen with a focusing aid (such as a split image rangefinder; a microprism; or a combination of both). For moderate to long telephoto, macro lenses, telextenders, and macro with bellows or extension tubes we recommend a matte screen, or a matte screen with a grid.

*HI-LUX ENHANCEMENT TO 35mm OR DIGITAL SLR SCREEN - $75.00 (two or more, $65.00 each - return S&H $8.00)

*HI-LUX ENHANCEMENT TO MEDIUM FORMAT SCREEN - $85.00 to $110.00 (ask concerning quantities - return S&H $8.00)

These prices apply to most modern user interchangeable screens. Some older cameras with interchangeable screens may require a complete replacement screen. You should call before sending your screens to make sure that they are suitable for enhancement. Non interchangeable screens may be removed, shipped and reinstalled by an experienced technician.
In 35mm, the screens from most Nikon, Canon, Olympus, Contax, Pentax, Leica, Minolta, etc turn out well with our HI-LUX process (see note concerning modification of "laser matte" screens).

In Medium Format, the screens from the Mamiya RB67, RZ67, C330S, all 645 models (new and old); Bronica ETR(S, Si, etc), SQ(A, Ai, etc), AND GS-1, etc, Contax 645, and Pentax 6x7and 645 turn out well. HI-LUX screens with advanced features which go beyond the modified versions of the camera manufacturers' screens are available for some cameras (see section on HI-LUX screens with advanced features).

In Digital, the screens from most Nikon, Canon, Olympus, Pentax, Fuji, etc turn out well with our HI-LUX process (see note concerning modification of "laser matte" screens).

Format lines for your medium format Digital backs can be applied to your new or existing focus screens. A special masking is available for some screens (where the active imaging area is brighter than the surrounding area).

CAUTION: All focusing screens are delicate. Handle them by the edges only. Don't try to clean your screen. Ship the screen in the original packaging or wrap the screen in layers of soft lens tissue before shipping in a small box or a padded envelope. Type or print legibly and fully insure your screen when shipping.

Some cameras' original screens are not suitable for modification and require a complete replacement screen for the optimum effect. Some of these cameras are: Hasselblad; Rolleiflex; Mamiya twin lens cameras prior to the C330S & C220F; and many classic cameras. Read further for descriptions of these screens.

HI-LUX MODIFICATION OF "LASER MATTE" AND OTHER "NEW TECHNOLOGY" SCREENS:

Many modern cameras are equipped with "Laser matte" or other bright focusing screens which perform well with fast lenses. These screens may be HI-LUX enhanced to further extend this performance for medium speed and slower lenses, compact and telephoto zooms, telextenders, macros, bellows, tubes, depth of field checks, etc. For these slower lenses and slower viewing apertures, the increase in brightness may be two or more f: stops.

Because there are so many different models (and variations of models) of cameras that have been made, we suggest that you give us a call to insure that your camera will be equipped with the appropriate screen.

DIGITAL CAMERAS WITH SLR TYPE VIEWFINDERS:

The screens from most digital cameras with SLR type viewfinders can also be done with the HI-LUX process with similar increases in brightness. Those cameras not having user interchangeable screens can still be done as these screens are easily changed by a technician. Contact us concerning these cameras.

HI-LUX SCREENS WITH ADVANCED FEATURES:

Our HI-LUX Brilliant Matte screen offers superior performance if you are a matte screen user. It is available for the Mamiya RB67; Mamiya RZ67; all Mamiya 645 models, all Bronicas, all Rolleiflex (twin lens and med format SLRs); all Mamiya twin lens; and most other modern and classic medium format cameras. Contact us about these screens or prices and features that are available.

Grids and roll film markings are available. Contact us concerning your particular camera.

There are a wide variety of brilliant HI-LUX focusing screens possible for the entire range of large format cameras - 2x3 (6x9), 4x5, 5x7, 8x10, as well as 6x12 and 6x17 sizes. While our HI-LUX Brilliant Matte screen is excellent for most large format photography, we also make special purpose screens, such as our HI-LUX Ultra Brilliant and our special HI-LUX Wide Angle screen (a powerful specialty screen for use with wide angle lenses).

Because of the different possibilities (and because there are slight differences in the sizes and mounting requirements of various modern and classic view cameras) we suggest that you contact us to discuss your view camera, lenses and photographic situations so that we can advise you as to which HI-LUX focusing screen would best suit your purposes.

NOTE: WE ADVISE YOU TO CALL US BEFORE PLACING YOUR ORDER IN CASE WE ARE TEMPORARILY OUT OF SOME ITEMS (THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO HI-LUX SCREEN ENHANCEMENTS).
