FAQ
Question:
What are the differences between the SLX/6002, 6006 and 6008 backs?
Answer:
6006 and 6008 backs have a built-in dark slide. SLX/6002 backs have a switch to convert from 120 to 220. SLX/6002 backs can not be used on a 6006/8 as they will cause a focus shift. 6008 and 6003 backs do work on the 6006.
Backs for the 6006 will be marked either 6006 or 6000 back on the rear panel of the back. Backs for the 6008 will be marked 6000, and work just as well on the 6003 and 6001.
Question:
What are the differences between PQ and non-PQ lenses?
Answer:
Non-PQ lenses do not convey aperture information to the camera so there is no aperture reading in the LED bar. This means auto bracketing and multi-spot metering won't work. But aperture and shutter priority AE (in average or spot mode) still work. You need to press meter button (on the grip dial) or the stop down button (next to the dial) to stop the lens down to read the exposure settings. And there will be slight delay after you press the shutter release as the camera reads the exposure. This sounds like a lot of hassle but is actually quite usable after you get used to it. The delay has no impact unless you shoot subjects that move or people that blink. If you know the older Canon cameras, the analogy between PQ and HFT lenses is like FD and FL lenses. While non-PQ lenses only meters down to EV5 (instead of EV3 or EV0) they are accurate when lighting condition is bright enough.
Question:
In which cameras can I use PQ and the PQS lenses?
Answer:
PQS lenses have higher current draw due to their different linear motor systems. Older cameras were not designed for this higher current draw and could be damaged. SLX cameras would DEFINITELY be damaged if PQS lenses were used on them, 6006 cameras would PROBABLY be damaged if PQS lenses were used on them. Therefore Rollei recommends to use PQS lenses EXCLUSIVELY on cameras of the types 6008, 6003 and 6001.
While you can use the PQ-lenses with all Rolleiflex 6000 models, older lens models do not have the shutter speed priority, as these lenses do not have an aperture clutch.
